NETS WILL SEE V.C.

With trade rumors swirling regarding Carmelo Anthony, Wednesday night the Nets clash with former New Jersey superstar Vince Carter. Carter landed in the valley of the sun when Orlando shook up their roster December 19th, sending Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus and Vince Carter to Phoenix in exchange for Jason Richardson, Earl Clark and Hedo Turkoglu.
The Magic would also ship Rashard Lewis to Washington and in return receive troubled but talented guard Gilbert Arenas. In six games with Phoenix, Vince Carter is averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Carter’s four plus seasons with New Jersey saw the Nets make three playoff appearances, falling short of the NBA finals each time.
Current Nets Devin Harris and Brook Lopez played with Vince Carter in 2008 and will be sure to exchange pleasantries with Carter prior to Wednesday night’s game. Although Vince’s era in New Jersey fell short of expectations, fans were electrified by Vinsanity’s high flying dunks and acrobatic shots. Carter played exceptionally well alongside Jason Kidd in New Jersey and now finds himself in Phoenix’s backcourt with two-time league MVP Steve Nash.
The Suns are vastly underachieving this year boasting a 15-21 record but still hold claim to the NBA’s second best scoring offense at 105.9 points per contest. The Nets embark on their four game west coast trip, winning only three of twenty road games thus far this season. If New Jersey is hopeful of capturing their fourth road victory, they will have to be sharp in transition defense and guard a Suns team that shoots a blistering 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
110-98 Suns. Vince Carter 24 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds against his former squad.
