As first reported by NetsDaily, the Brooklyn Nets are expected to unveil their vintage ABA jersey this upcoming season. It’s unclear whether the uniform will be of the sleeved or sleeveless variety, but clearly the franchise is honoring its era of playing in Long Island and New Jersey with a throwback to the jersey that Julius Irving donned over 40 years ago when the Nets won the ABA title at the end of the 1973-1974 season.
Since the move from New Jersey over to the borough of Brooklyn, CEO Brett Yormark has been essentially shunning the Nets name as it does not appear anywhere on the team’s home or road uniforms. It’s refreshing to see the team get back to its roots and extend its reach back into Long Island and New Jersey where it all started.
