Red Bulls ready and aware for their road trip against the Sounders

It was a tough loss to swallow for the New York Red Bulls as they took a two goal loss and haven’t scored in a game for 180 minutes, but while they should’ve gotten a win last Sunday this Sunday’s opponent on the road in Seattle looks like they will be a lot tougher as the Sounders are rolling in the Western Conference.

The top tandem to take down or to at least contain will be US International Clint Dempsey & Obafemi Martins who have been scoring a thunderous rate and are not shy of proving it on the field. “It’s a team effort, everyone has to chip in and the midfield has to help out.” said team captain Dax McCarty, “Those guys will try to find space all over the field, the midfield and behind the defenders, so it’s going to be a total team effort and we need to limit their opportunities.”

So far Dempsey leads the Sounders with seven goals while Martins is in second place with six, but looking at the golden boot race even though we are finishing off the month of May Kei Kamara of Columbus leads the league with nine, while Dempsey is tied for second with Chris Wondolowski of San Jose & Martins is tied for fourth with Giles Barnes of Houston.

As a former player Head Coach Jesse Marsch knows what his side is in for when they face the Sounders, especially with their head coach Sigi Schmid as he was coaching the Los Angeles Galaxy & the Columbus Crew when Marsch played for the Chicago Fire. “Sigi’s belief is to make good decisions on the ball. Completeing passes and then he is good at identifying talent and trying to exploit match ups. This team is very good and we need to as a group to defend them, press them and counter press them.”

Since the Sounders have come into Major League Soccer, they have always been a solid side putting their mark on how to play their way and in the many minds of their supporters, they believe that Schmid since coming over to the club has done exactly what they have asked of him and winning four US Open Cup championships is proof.

But in my opinion for this side since coming to MLS, the Sounders are playing faster & better which means the league is in serious trouble for the League championship this season. The Red Bulls know what type of fight they are in for when they go across the country and face the Seattle Sounders at Century Link Field and try to grab any type of points possible on another Nationally Televised game.
