Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 Official Review

Lauded for its unrivaled gameplay experience, PES 2018 refines the soccer simulation like never before. This year's iteration features realistic game speed as developers granted users the ability to control possession with strategic dribbling. Player utilize simple stick controls to shield the ball from defenders and execute subtle moves to keep them off-balance. With Real Touch+, users control the ball with their entire body in order to adjust to an unpredictable ball flight. With the new FK and PK system, along with the new option to choose a one playoff kickoff, this top soccer franchise refined every aspect of the gameplay.

The best in class just got that much better. All of the nuances of the game are masterfully portrayed in this version from the minute details of stadium lighting for day and night matches as well as the pitch turfs and stadium tunnels. Thanks to Real Capture, developers recreated more than 20,000 detailed components that were captured at Camp Nou and Signal Iduna Park. Player models have been overlaid in spiffy new environments along with extensive animations added to the already stellar repertoire. Everything from uniform fitting to body tatoos have garnered special attention.

MENUS – Every menu has been reworked to adapt to modern layouts including the HUD display to create a broadcast feel.

– Real player images have been added to the gameplan and in-match
stats display to create an even more lifelike experience for users.

The rich get richer. PES 2018 builds on it's realistic gameplay with refined control mechanics and more polished visuals including player models, crowd reactions and player celebrations. This year's version takes the presentation to new heights by covering everything from pregame interviews to post-match antics and festivities. The fluidity of gameplay is first in class as players are transported onto the pitch for an unparalleled experienced for soccer fans and gamers.

The visual makeover, while impressive, is not earth-shattering. Animations are smooth and the greatest improvement for gameplay is a more heightened awareness and AI for players receiving passes and maintaining ball control. PES 2018 doesn't make wholesale changes to last year's version, but the attention to detail in this installment helps solidify it as the top soccer gaming franchise on the market.

Developers didn't try to reinvent the wheel as they refined PES 2017 with a variety of new on-field animations including the ability to play the ball off a players chest, stomach or thigh, while the depth of game modes received a nice jolt in the arm as well.

The myClub mode forces players to think like a general manager as their charged with handling everything from player contracts to blocking and granting player transfer. All of the game modes have been fully integrated so players can enjoy 3v3 co-op action in virtually any mode.

PES 2018 leaves no stone unturned as players looking to compete in eSports with myClub have that added capability as well. Even the HUD and main menu overhaul create a nice touch for the franchise. From the second players emerge from the stadium tunnels to the moment the final whistle is blown, the realism in presentation and gameplay is a sight to behold. The only thing missing from this year's installment, and likely this was purposeful, is an arcade mode for casual gamers who want a break from the intense simulation-type action and prefer a version with more frenzied action where the rules are thrown out the window.

All things considered, PES 2018 already leaves the FIFA franchise in the dust as it checks all the boxes for gamers and critics alike. A truly all-around wonderful experience for gamers, PES 2018 once against establishes itself as the premier soccer gaming title that is head and shoulders above the competition.

Call of Duty WW2 pre-order comes with Multiplayer bonus

Call Of Duty World World II will be released on November 3, but fans have the opportunity to pre-order the game now. When fans pre-order the title, they'll have the ability to choose virtually any weapon they desire. The Multiplayer pre-order version also comes with four hours of double XP.

While the final version of the game will incorporate the feedback of beta users, Activision admitted that there will be some changes made to the game prior to launch.

“This Beta has definitely helped make the game better, and our backend launch readiness more solid," an Activision spokesperson said.

NHL 18 Official Review

What's New

Brand spanking new to the franchise, this training camp mode covers all of hockey fundamentals from basic shooting mechanics to all the nuances of faking out defenders with effective dekes and mastering the art of the faceoff. The tutorial features real-life professional Canadian Hockey players along with in-game training videos to ensure that both newbies and experienced players can perfect their craft.

Creative Attack Dekes

Aimed to give users the freedom of movement and control in today's NHL, players can utilize one-handed moves, between-the-legs dekes, back-handed toedrags, heel drags, cheeky puck flips just to name a few. To take things to the next level, NHL 18 expands on the use of deke combinations so you can string them together to make real-time decisions and moves.

Defensive Skill Stick

Finally defensive players are given full control over their hockey sticks with the ability to keep their sticks steady in front of an attacker to disrupt him or sweep it back and forth to cover a zone.

Creative AI:

Now your teammates won't be on thin ice as improved AI will utilize the same deking and passing abilities that you do. The new AI allows the computer to find user-controlled players breaking down ice with more regularity and improving overall lead passing and positioning.

Authentic 3-on-3 EA Sports Hockey League:

The popular EASHL match mode now only needs three human players to experience the frenzied. high-paced action. This arcade-inspired hockey delivers humorous commentary coupled with an over-the-top play style that keeps the crowd roaring endlessly. Included in this mode a complete single-player campaign where you compete against different teams and leagues in a circuit-style tour. Additionally, players can enjoy online team play where up to five of your friends and finally local team-play with up to five friends along with online or local head-to-head.

A flip of the coin determines who sets the rules and the winner gets to select how many periods to play and the goal limit. The coin flip winner also decides whether you want to play in a super-fast first-to three game or with standard NHL periods and clocks.

The open ice mode allows players to showcase new skill moves and creative passing between teammates. 3-on-3 EASHL demands a high skill level and utilizes all the new gameplay additions to its fullest.

Trade Requests in Be Like a Pro:

The game has changed with users now gaining the ability to set specific trade criteria by having their Be a Pro traded to other teams.
As long as the Be A Pro career starts making some waves in the NHL, the trade scenarios are endless.

Hut Challenges:

An expansion to the Hockey Ultimate team mode, HUT challenges gives players the chance to earn rewards and upgrade their roster almost instantly. Included in HUT challenges is co-op challenges so friends can join in to share in the rewards.

New Button Controls

The control scheme has been revamped and allows players who prefer to use the facebutton control technique to utilize the same skills, moves and goals as Skill Stick Players. Now every player can showcase exemplary puck handling, passing and scoring by simply using the L1/LB + face buttons to execute advanced dekes that up until now only Skill Stick Players could pull off.

Franchise Expansion

Vegas Golden Knights

Players can select the expansion team from Sin City before the first NHL game featuring authentic rosters, uniforms, logos and all of the bells and whistles of the shiny new T-Mobile Arena. Franchise expansion lets players reboot the expansion draft and utilizes real player protection lists so you can build the roster from scratch.

Expansion Draft

Users can change the landscape of the league where they create an expanded franchise and select the best players across the NHL. Assemble a talented roster and assume a front office position to manage the team's personnel, make business decision and the adjust the strategy and roster for actual games.

Users can also play as an existing franchise and set your own Protected Player List to keep a current roster intact.

More Expansion Locations
Pick from countless cities across North America and Europe to find the ideal place to build a championship team and bring a Stanley Cup to your hometown or favorite place.

Using the in-depth Creation Zone customization tools that are used to select your city, build an arena, design a uniform/logo and now the unprecedented ability to tailor-make a mascot!

NHL 18 expands into a variety of co-op game modes like never before. This year's version caters to users in favor of co-op modes via Hockey Ultimate Team™, Online Vs. and NHL THREES. Team play is the name of the game. Players of all ages and experience can hop right into to a dynamic gameplay experience and emulate the pros with creative puck handling and scoring normally reserved for the hardcore gamers.
While the playing mechanics have been refined to create a more fluid and NHL-like game style, first-time players should take advantage of the Hockey Canada Training Camp mode to learn the basics and work their way up to mastering the nuances of the game.

The zany NHL-Threes arcade mode creates endless hours of amusement with unlimited possibilities as the rules are entirely customizable. The frenetic end-to-end action tests the skating, passing and shooting prowess of all players, while defenders can deliver hellacious hits and punishment for attackers who don't have their heads on a swivel.

NHL in Vegas, what could be better? The Franchise Expansion mode allows eager hockey fans to simulate what it's like playing with the NHL's 32nd team. The ability to play the flipside the coin and protect existing team's players from the expansion draft is another interesting twist that allows users to manage every aspect of the team's roster moves.

The Defensive Skill stick addition to the game seems to be over-engineered as players often find themselves tinkering with that tactic instead of positioning correctly in front of an attacker. The player models and on-ice action appear to be a carbon-copy of last year's iteration, but the in-arena atmosphere in NHL-Threes is festive and Oktoberfest-esque. The visual upgrades to the crowd while not significant enhance the quality of the game experience.

While the skating in open ice is the stuff dreams are made of, on the flip side, defending goal in this year's iteration is nightmarish even with the addition of the Defensive Skill Stick. While point blank shots often don't produce goals, wacky deflections, slapshots from near mid-ice and impossible angled attempts find the back of the net far too often. Scoring is the name of the game in this offensive-centric version.

Not all defensive ability is lost however as body checks are as bruising as ever and the high intensity fighting is always a great way to pass the time. The gameplay controls and mechanics have been refined, the game modes have been expanded and geared toward co-op play.

The new modes including NHL-Threes, Franchise Expansion and Create a Mascot tool make this the ultimate title for the casual and die-hard hockey fan alike. While the visuals are stunning, they're not groundbreaking or vastly improved from prior versions, but steady gameplay tweaks and enhanced features create glass-shattering fun for all.

Gang Green will be sending troubled but talented defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson to Seattle in exchange for the 27-year old veteran and 2018 second rounder.

Richardson was the 2013 Defensive Rookie of the Year, but off the field issues have plagued him throughout his time in New York.

Fans Favorite Podcast: Jets 31 Giants 32 Final

Join Daniel Feuerstein & Rick Laughland as they review the snoopy bowl at MetLife Stadium as the Jets are the road team against the Giants. The podcast team recaps a miserable first half performance from Christian Hackenberg and a steller second half outing from Bryce Petty as Gang Green nearly overcame a 29-3 halftime deficit to complete a miraculous comeback.

Todd Bowles names Josh McCown Jets starting QB

As expected Jets head coach Todd Bowles named 37-year-old veteran Josh McCown the team's starting quarterback for Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. McCown has only played in one series so far this preseason as Bowles has allowed youngsters Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg to duke it out to sort out the QB depth chart. Jets beat reporters questioned whether there was truly a quarterback competition at all and whether the starting gig was McCown's to use.

"No, it was even because we hadn’t played any games and obviously I wanted to see (Bryce Petty) and (Christian Hackenberg) play," admitted Bowles. "I’ve seen Josh (McCown) play and I was with Josh before and I know what he can do. I just wanted to see if the other ones will go ahead and step up and take the spot, but there was no starter going into training camp."

Petty outshined Hackenberg during the first three exhibition contests as the lights looked too bright for the second year gunslinger out of Penn State.

"It wasn’t disappointing," said Bowles of Hackenberg's performance. "Obviously (Christian) was the only one that hasn’t played in the regular season game either. The other two played in it so, they had a little more poise so, everything he was seeing, going out there against some great defenses the past two weeks, he saw for the first and second time but, he got better mentally and he got better in somethings to learn from so, it wasn’t disappointing. It was a learning experience."

With more than a decade of pro experience, McCown was the easy choice for Bowles given the quarterback's ability to grasp the offense.

Well, (Petty) and (Hackenberg) give the young players a chance to develop as well. Josh, from an experience stand point, knows more, but that’s not why we made him the starter. We put him to start because he gives us the best chance from his talent, he’s proven that this spring and this summer so, he gives us the best chance that way.

With the Jets on a endless quest to find a franchise quarterback, Bowles acknowledges that naming McCown the starter doesn't give him that designation by any stretch of the imagination.

"That’s kind of a strange question, but until we (go) 16-0, you have a franchise quarterback," Bowles stated flatly. "If you don’t, I guess you don’t."

With many "experts" predicting the Jets will flirt with a 0-16 record, at the very least they have a wiley veteran to command the huddle for the season opener when they take on Buffalo.

Madden 18 Official Review

Madden 18 Official Review: (X-BOX ONE VERSION)

What’s New

In this action-packed mode, the hits are furious and turnovers aplenty as the referees swallow their whistles and users smash the hit stick with all their might. This play style is fun and addicting; geared toward the casual fan and designed to impress your friends with high-octane, non-stop action.

The steadfast NFL fan will enjoy the opportunity for an authentic game experience that accounts for team and player tendencies played under normal league rules. This is the quintessential Madden mode that is both the most enjoyable and challenging for franchise newcomers and veterans alike. Users are somewhat handcuffed by what caliber team they select and specifically the quarterback they pick, so choose wisely!

Let the best man win. EA decided to take away the majority of AI nonsense in favor of allowing users to face-off against each other in order to showcase their skills. Penalties are few and far between in this style which is best suited for ranked human to human online mode. Find out how you truly stack up against the competition.

Target Passing Mode:
Don’t worry the QB vision isn’t coming back, but this part of the gameplay seems a bit over-engineered. Using a combination of the left thumbstick and the LT button (L2 for PS4 version) users can lead receivers to a designated marker on the field. While in theory this would seem to be ideal, in live game action this is often an overlooked and forgotten aspect of the gameplay.

New to the Madden Franchise, this simple, but brilliant add-on allows players to dive into a regular season NFL game in real-time. You can also resume your season in Franchise Mode and it will reflect all the current stats and records in the current NFL.

EA’s new foray into a story-driven mode tries to make every NFL fan's dream a reality. Long Shot mode chronicles the story of a top high school football star out of Texas whose goal of turning pro falls short after his college years.

After enlisting in the army and spending three years out of football, Devin Wade, EA’s fictional character, follows his best friend’s advice and elects not to give up on his pursuit of a professional football career. After a superb performance at a Regional NFL Combine, Wade receives an unexpected offer and rediscovers his love for the game, but it doesn’t come without inherent challenges.

With his dreams coming true right before his very eyes, including become a reality TV star, Wade begins to buckle under the pressure and needs a trip home to help him get back on the right track. With the help of a legendary quarterback mentor, Wade is able to find his way back onto the top of the football world.

I know, I know. What does MUT stand for? Madden Ultimate Team, (of course you Maddenites out there already knew that) which is gaining popularity year by year. Users pick the best players from different teams and eras and earn coins by playing against the CPU or human players in a variety of challenges. This mode leaves no stones unturned as every facet of team building matters.

Online team play allows for 3-on-3 contests with unique roles for each player including: offensive captain, defensive captain and coach. Players have the ability to toggle between the three roles pre-snap and after the ball is snapped.

The game mode can actually be scary since you’re assembling a seemingly unstoppable team and have the ability to pick from the top talent pools in the world. Once you play MUT Squad it will be hard to go back to Play Now mode with Tyrod Taylor slinging the ball to Jordan Matthews. Sorry Bills Fans!

Every year the details are greater, the stakes are higher and the possibilities are endless. Madden 18 builds on an already robust mode with users obtaining the ability to customize everything from ticket prices to the price of concessions. Madden Franchise mode is truly in rare form in this version, so dive into one of the most in-depth and realistic game modes that exist on any platform today.

Tackling ballcarriers is now an achievable feat thanks to the new grabbing and reaching animations that give lineman and linebackers alike a chance to get their paws on shifty and smaller backs. The secondary AI saw a refresher with interceptions not as frequent as in past versions.

The revamped Ball Hawk mechanic encourages players to either attempt a ball swat or interception depending on the play.

The offensive playbooks have been expanded so get ready to go deep into the bag of tricks by selecting a bevy of plays, while players can make “coaching adjustments” in the playcall menu to counteract the CPU or Human opponents’ strategy.

Madden 18 is in a lot of ways a more polished and refined version of its predecessor. With revamped player models that closely resemble the top NFL stars, updated commentary and fresh beats that enhance the gameplay experience, the bar has truly been raised for this model franchise. Gameplay mechanics have been steadily improved whereby any errant throw isn’t automatically intercepted as was the case over the last few installments. Instead in Madden 18, passes are tipped and dropped more times than not by defensive backs.

The gameplay mechanics remain status quo, but this year’s iteration seems to strike a fair balance between offensive firepower and defensive playmaking.

While the Longshot mode is worth a play-through, the replay value is quite low since it’s anticlimactic once your redemption story is complete. EA incorporated its Frostbite engine which was ushered in with a great deal of hype and promise, and while the Longshot mode is entertaining, the story is somewhat predictable and animations tend to be exaggerated and not lifelike. Longshot was billed as an exciting addition to this storied franchise, but I can’t see it remaining a staple of the game for years to come.

Franchise Mode and MUT SQUAD more than make up for any deficiencies exhibited by Longshot Mode and will quickly command hours of your time and attention. The online team play in MUT SQUAD creates endless hours of fun with friends in a game that is otherwise difficult to play in co-op mode. The creation of three roles for Madden Ultimate Team makes for an interesting twist and enables users the chance to alternate between them from play to play which keeps the action fresh and frenzied.

Taking into consideration the subtle improvements in gameplay, the expanded MUT mode and the gold standard that has been set by Madden’s Franchise Mode, Madden 18 won’t disappoint and has a plethora of game modes and styles to entertain and challenge fans of all ages and playing experience.

Try your hand in PLAY IT NOW mode and dive right into to your favorite team’s gameday battle. Madden 18 truly has something for everyone; making it one of the most complete installments released in recent memory.

Todd Bowles: 'Players have individual right to sit for Anthem'

The racial riots that are taking place across the country are drawing reactions from all corners of the world. America is a nation divided on racial and political lines and it's an unsettling time to say the least. New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles was the latest high profile personality to speak out against the hatred and bigotry that still exists in our great nation.

When asked by Jets beat reporters his reaction to players protesting the state of the country by sitting for the National Anthem, Gang Green's head coach wholeheartedly supported an individual's right to express themselves.

"Well, it’s their individual right," said Bowles. "We don’t have a rulebook on what’s right to protest and not protest. "You don’t know those things until the course of time, whether it’s sitting for the Anthem, whether it’s raising your fist, whether it’s speaking out, whether it’s the Walk to Washington, who is to say who’s protest is good or bad? As a football team, politics and people are human – they’re part of it – so you can’t say what’s good or bad. I’m sure mostly everybody – I know I’m against racism, segregation and all that other stuff, but how do we come to an answer? I don’t have that answer. How do we come to a common ground? I don’t have that answer. It’s a hell of a debate and a hell of a topic. It needs to stop. I don’t have the answers to that, but who is to say who’s protest is good or bad? That’s just the way they feel and that’s their right to express it. On if he would discuss the topic of protests with his players… We’ve talked about it. We talk about current events all the time. It’s more than football with us. We talk about a lot of things. It’s a different topic – everybody has their own feelings about it. You can’t sway anybody one way or the other. We’re all grown men here, so that’s how people feel, that has nothing to do with what they do in practice and what they do on the field, but separately off the field they are going to feel the way they feel."

Colin Kaepernick's decision to sit for the National Anthem last season sent shockwaves throughout the country and ushered in a movement to take a stand against racism in the United States.

I'm appalled and disgusted by the racial-based violence transpiring, but veterans in this country sacrificed for our freedom and I think it's a sign of disrespect for those whose lives have been lost trying to make the world a better place. There has to be a more appropriate manner to demonstrate disapproval of today's racial climate and not honoring the country by sitting actually offends the exact people who risked their lives to secure ALL of our freedom.

My grandfather was a paratrooper in World War II and with only an eighth grade education he worked his way up to the rank of lieutenant. He was drafted into the army, and never drew a weapon in his life until his country came calling him.

So while Bowles is defending his players' right to make their own choices, I would urge players to find a way to bring to light the ugly episodes of racial violence that are taking place, while at the same time not disrespecting the honorable servicemen and servicewoman who are stationed at home and oversees to keep us all safe.

"We’ve talked about it," said Bowles of discussing racial riots with his team. "We talk about current events all the time.

Jets sign WR Kenbrell Thompkins

The New York Jets announced the signing of WR Kenbrell Thompkins on Wednesday to bolster a receiving corps that has been under scrutiny for its lack of pro experience and production.

Thompkins appeared in 7 games during the 2015 season with the Jets recording 17 receptions for 165 yards. Many Jet fans will remember Thompkins dropping a deep pass from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 17 loss to the Bills that knocked them out of postseason contention.

Thompkins joins a receiving group led by Robbie Anderson, Jalin Marshall, Charone Peake as well as tight end Austin Serafin-Jenkins. A former Cincinnati Bearcat, Thompkins will add some much needed NFL experience to a unit that is full of promising youngsters.

To make room on the roster for Thompskins, the Jets waived injured Safety Doug Middleton.

President Trump Intends to Nominate Woody Johnson to Ambassador Position

Christopher Johnson to take over as New York Jets Chairman and CEO subject to
Woody Johnson's nomination and Senate Confirmation

– The New York Jets confirmed today that President Donald Trump intends to nominate Woody Johnson, team owner, Chairman and CEO of the New York Jets to serve as Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

If Woody Johnson is nominated and confirmed by the Senate, Christopher Johnson, his brother and an owner will become Chairman and CEO. In that role, Christopher will directly oversee all day-to-day team operations.

“The New York Jets have been an integral part of our family since 2000, but this is a unique opportunity for Woody. His patriotism and commitment to our country have always been a passion of his,” said Christopher Johnson. “Over the years, we have learned that ownership of the New York Jets is a special responsibility. Personally, if Woody is nominated and confirmed, I would be honored to oversee the organization, continuing to build a team on and off the field that our fans are proud of and deserve.”

"On behalf of the entire organization, we would be extremely proud to see Woody nominated and confirmed as U.S. Ambassador. We could not be more excited for him and his family," said New York Jets President Neil Glat.

Woody Johnson and his family purchased the NFL’s New York Jets on January 18, 2000. Woody, a fourth-generation member of the founding family of Johnson & Johnson, has built upon his family’s proud legacy of achievement as a successful businessman, civic leader and compassionate philanthropist.

Break Camp

Transcript: Jets head coach Todd Bowles

On if he thought the offense looked better today…
They were crisper today. It’s still give and take on both sides. (We are) just trying to get better.

On getting Bilal Powell back at practice…
It’s good to get his feet wet. You know he’s missed some time now so he’s got a lot of catching up to do but it’s good to see him out there.

On if there is any additional news on Lucky Whitehead’s injury…
Lucky broke his foot.

On if Whitehead will be out for the year…
I don’t know if he’s out for the year but I know he’s out for a little while.

On if the team will try and acquire a returner given Whitehead’s injury…
We still got a couple guys we want to look at and then as we get down in it, if we don’t see what we want we’ll look for one.

On if Whitehead needs surgery…
I’m not sure yet, they’re still checking him out.

On how long Whitehead will be out…
It’s still undetermined. They’re still checking him out.

On why Marquess Wilson didn’t practice…
He had a sore hip.

On Bilal Powell…
He had fresh legs, that’s the first thing, other than that he’s just got to get caught up to speed, just get used to the blocking schemes and everything else. But he was fresh so that’s about all he can do right now.

On the development of Dexter McDougle…
Well he’s a little more confident mentally as far as knowing what he’s doing and he’s finally trying to put a couple practices together and a game together, you just got to keep working.

On if practice ended early today…
They practiced pretty fast today so we got done early.

On if the early end was a reward for Saturday’s play…

On if the team has made a point to keep a fast tempo and run a lot of plays in practice…
We try and get more plays in a short period of time and they can get their wind up and conditioning at the same time, (and at the) same time we keep the tempo going and they can concentrate.

On if the fast tempo is something they can carry into the preseason…
We’re going to try and get them going. At certain times we’ll do different things, but we’ll try and get them going faster.

On how enjoyable it’s been to coach Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye considering he was a former safety…
Well it’s been enjoyable to coach them all, but two rookies playing, they study, they work hard every day, they have some mistakes in practice, but they learn from their mistakes and it’s just good to see them because they’re good people as well.

On Coach John Morton’s statement that Christian Hackenberg is still a rookie in many ways…
It is because he’s getting a lot more reps (now). Last year, there were three quarterbacks ahead of him, so this year there’s only three in camp, so he’s getting a lot more reps right now (and) he’s getting to play for the first time really without running scout team cards so in that respect, yes.

On what Hackenberg is better at this year than he was last year…
I don’t know if he’s better at anything, he’s just learning the offense and having the whole spring and taking the reps more, he’s getting to play more and as he plays more everything becomes easier for him so he’s better mentally from that standpoint.

On if the way Hackenberg is playing now makes him glad he took the approach he did with Hackenberg last season…
It’s hard to get reps when there are three quarterbacks in front of you. I’m happy where he is right now and he’s getting to play, he’s learning it, he doesn’t make the same mistake too many times and he’s getting better from there.

On if he’s glad he “redshirted” Hackenberg last year…
He was going to redshirt with the guys we had last year regardless.

On how much more Josh McCown will play in the second preseason game…
Again, we haven’t discussed it yet. We will try and give him more than seven plays, but we haven’t discussed it yet.

On how often Leonard Williams, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammad Wilkerson will be on the field at the same time this season…
We haven’t gotten in the game plan yet. Right now were just trying to play hard and come together as a unit. As we get into the game plan when the season comes we’ll see.

On how important it will be to get production from Williams, Richardson and Wilkerson…
Well it’s important to get production out of everybody. They just have to do their jobs and everybody else has to do theirs.

On if it might be more beneficial to play only two of them at a time…
Again, when we get into the game plan during the season we’ll discuss it. Right now, they’re just trying to get better, we haven’t even gotten into the game plan of playing people so that’s the last part on my mind.

On why he thinks McDougle is more confident…
He’s finally comfortable. He’s finally healthy first of all. He’s had some nicks the last couple of years that’s kept him off the field and he’s missed a significant amount of time. But now he’s back he’s healthy and he came in in great shape and its showing.

On if he has been happy with Darron Lee and Demario Davis’s coverage in the pass game…
They get good depth (on their drops). They’re still learning how to work together. They have great communication, so they just have to keep getting better.

New York Jets to Introduce New Food Options

Feuerstein's Fire Podcast

Listen to everything American Soccer and locally on the New York Red Bulls as Daniel Feuerstein of Once a Metro recaps the week on Soccer in MLS, NASL, USL, New York Red Bulls and everything else.

Tune in Sunday night at 11PM as Rick Laughland and Daniel Feuerstein recap the New York Jets win over the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium. With many fans expecting the Jets to be the worst team in football, Gang Green showed for at least one night that they could put a respectable product on the field. Let's not get carried away since this is just the preseason opener, but Todd Bowles' group seems to have turned the page from a disastrous year in 2016.

The record when it's all said and done might be worse than last season, but the fundamental mistakes that fans saw early in the preseason during last year's campaign were nowhere to be found this time around. The success of the 2017 season won't be measured by wins or losses, but by how a young group stays together and how the coaching staff evaluates the talent on the team that can be building blocks for the future.

QB Josh McCown has embraced the role as a mentor to both Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty as the duo try to establish themselves as viable options under center. Tune in throughout the Jets season to get the latest previews and reviews as we follow the Jets season from start to finish.

Jets stifle Titans 7-3 in Preseason Opener

The New York Jets held the Tennessee Titans to 223 yards of total offense as Todd Bowles and company put on a defensive clinic on Friday night. TItans starter Marcus Mariota completed 2 of his 3 pass attempts for 15 yards as Gang Green's first team defense set the tone for the remainder of the defensive slug-fest. The Jets tallied eight sacks on the night including seven alone on back-up Alex Tanney who also tossed an interception to produce a paltry 41.0 QB rating.

New York didn't exactly put on an offensive showcase aside from starter Josh McCown looking sharp during the opening drive as he marched the Jets downfield for their only score of the game by connecting with WR Charone Peake for a 4-yard touchdown pass. Robbie Anderson led the way for New York on the receiving end amassing 71 yards on 3 receptions with a long catch of 53 yards. New York's ground game was virtually non-existent with RB Jordan Todman producing 20 yards on 8 carries, while RB Romar Morris also led the way in rushing with 20 yards on 12 touches.

Between backups Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty, the former Penn State Nittany Lion standout had a more productive night completing 18 of 25 attempts, but did cough up a fumble in the contest. Petty's time was limited, but he didn't show much to impress the coaching staff and solidify his place on the depth chart.

The Jets defense had a few blown assignments most notably surrendering a 40-yard scamper to Titans RB Akeem Judd, but the upstart unit was flying around the field and looked much better prepared and cohesive than last year's unit did in its preseason opener.

Gang Green will travel to Detroit next Saturday night to take on the Lions at Ford Field with kickoff slated for 7:30PM E.T.

Social Media Stupidity

When we try to have a serious discussion about sports between friends, you try to either have a sensible discussion or at least calm your friend down when he might go completely crazy about the player he has an issue with.

But on social media it's a completely different story. Sometimes having people waiting to hijack your comments to try and bait you to say something silly or to try and tag you for being a racist all because you had a negative and legit comment about a certain player and it wasn't for the color of his skin.

Geno Smith who is the backup QB for the New York Jets right now is a player that has the ability and the talent to do some damage on the football field and has won games in the past, but the negative on the field is he makes too many mistakes and he hasn't corrected them.

But off the field he made the biggest mistake inside his own locker room during the pre-season last year. We all know the situation that got Smith sucker punched by I.K. Emekapali inside the Jets locker room because he was too immature not to settle the matter like an adult, or at least do the right thing by paying Emekapali back the money for the flight Smith missed as a family member was injured.

Every time I look at an professional athlete that plays for a certain sport or for a certain team, it's a given that they have fantastic athletic ability to go out and perform at the highest level, but as I have always said his mental makeup is also a major part of how any professional athlete conducts his actions on and off the field.

Smith boasted when Ryan Fitzpatrick came back during training camp that he was auditioning for the 31 teams in the NFL for his services and outside of a decent performance in the first week of the Pre-Season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he flopped big time and while he is still in Green and White, Smith looked disappointing.

So are my comments about Geno Smith racist? No they are not, because this is a simple evaluation of the young man who has plenty of potential and sadly lost the respect of the locker room as each and every player were Black, White and Hispanic. At the same time when Mark Sanchez was injured back in 2013 I was rooting for Geno to have a good season and hoped he was the future franchise quarterback this Jets team desperately needs.

Why is it that I have supported Todd Bowles as the head coach of the Jets when he came over or why is it I have a Darrelle Revis Jets jersey in my possession. Not only do I want athletes of all colors to succeed for the sports teams I cheer for, but I also show respect to the ones that I enjoy having conversations with like the professional soccer players who come from England, Jamaica and those from the United States.

It is a damn shame that internet trolls who hide behind their computers will try to hijack a legitimate conversation and try to tag you as a racist, just to make you feel like crap and stop the conversation. Why is it that I have made friends either thru School, Summer Camp and show respect to colleagues in the sports writing business of all color, yet a pathetic fraud wants to pick a fight or try to end a legit discussion because they throw that word out there without showing any responsibility for it what so ever.

Sadly we may never know why these internet trolls and cyber bullies will continue to try and make you look like something you're not or shaming professional women journalists because they think they are better than these woman who do a fantastic job at their craft.

Just for once you wish these trolls would have the courage and dare I say the balls to actually have a legit discussion about the topic that is being discussed and stop throwing out words that will halt it. Because you do nothing by destroying real conversations for no reason.
